Arrests made in cattle thefts

A Glasgow man has been charged in connection with the theft of several head of cattle taken from the Love Knob Road area. Seven white and tan mixed charolais heifers weighing approximately 900 pounds each, were stolen from a Barren County farm sometime last week, according to officials with the Barren County Sheriff’s Department.
Joshua Hodges, 19, was charged with seven counts of theft by unlawful taking over $300. He was additionally charged with two counts of unlawful transaction with a minor. Charges are pending against three juveniles involved in the theft, authorities said.
Hodges was placed into custody and lodged in the Barren County Corrections Center.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Smiths Grove teenager on theft charges in a separate case.
Elvis Scott Jones, 18, was charged in connection with the recent theft of an ATV stolen from a residence on Coles Bend Road. The sheriff’s department received a tip regarding the persons involved.
While investigating, authorities said Jones and two juveniles confessed to taking the ATV, as well as to several other burglaries and thefts occurring in the Smiths Grove area. Jones was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300 and unlawful transaction with a minor. He was lodged in the Barren County Jail.
Additional charges are pending.
