Warehouse wonder Brownsville shop offers unique shopping experience By AMBER DILLEY Glasgow Daily Times BROWNSVILLE — V&R Enterprises Women’s Only Warehouse in Brownsville sells everything a woman might need — except the kitchen sink.
Virginia Roundtree, owner of the store, said they mostly sell fashion and natural nutrition products. “We have designer fashion sfrom California and New York, for 50 percent less. We sell footwear, handbags that are designer inspired, jewelry, accessories, natural mineral cosmetics and anti-aging skin care and natural nutrition and weight-loss products,” Roundtree said. Roundtree started the business five years ago after working out of her home for Shaklee Products. “I had a business where I sold health and beauty products along with vitamins and other things through Shaklee Products,” she said. “They have a complete line of natural cleaning and laundry home care products, all green products – they’re one of the oldest natural-material companies.” Roundtree worked for the company for 10 years before she decided she’d like to have a storefront. “I reached a point where I thought I’d like to be more available to the public and opened a store in Brownsville in 1992, still selling for Shaklee,” she said. “Then an opportunity came around. The people who owned this store before decided to sell it and retire, so I bought it and combined my former business with the designer clothing to continue what they had done.” Roundtree added that even though the store caters to women, men are welcome. “Some men also use the herbal products and natural nutrition products,” she said. One of the main things the warehouse offers is personal service. “A lot of ladies shop by appointment at the first of each season,” Roundtree said. “They shop at the beginning because they want to get first pick. We open to the public when we finish our appointments, but everyone and anyone can be on our appointment list.” Roundtree said people from out of town and some times out of state come to shop at the warehouse. “Some people get the idea when we say ‘warehouse for women,’ they think out-of-date clothing or secondhand. But these styles are actually ahead of us because they’re from New York and California.” This October, the business will be featured in Gary West’s book titled, “Shopping your way across Kentucky: 101 Must-Places to Shop in Kentucky.” “We’re very honored to be featured in one of his books,” she said.
