Music to fill the air at Heritage festival

— Music fans can get their fill of a number of different styles at this weekend’s Horse Cave Heritage Festival.
This year’s roster includes bands in genres ranging from blues to bluegrass, gospel to barbershop, southern rock to Christian rock and even R&B.
“We pride ourselves on really being a strong showcase of talent in the region,” said David Thomas, musical coordinator for the festival. “It’s a wonderful group.”
Country star Clay Underwood will headline the event, taking to the main stage at 7:30 Saturday night.
“He’s bringing a terrific band out of Nashville,” Thomas said.
For those who want to see if they can upstage the acts on stage, there will be a karaoke contest Friday night from 5-8 at the Cave Street stage in downtown Horse Cave.
There is a $100 cash prize for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third.
Intertwined with the music will be a number of local vendors selling food for the masses. The cost to get into the event is a relatively inexpensive $0.
“There’s 18 acts and if you wanted to see this many acts anywhere else in the country, it would cost a lot of money,” Thomas said. “Come on down, buy some food and support the vendors (which) supports our ability to throw this big party every year.”
