GLASGOW

An Edmonson County woman was injured Friday morning when the car she was driving hydroplaned on wet pavement and hit another vehicle head on.

Jona Freeman, 18, of Brownsville, was headed east on Ky. 90 approximately eight miles west of Glasgow shortly before 9 a.m. Friday when her 1994 Chevrolet Camaro lost traction of the wet roadway and started spinning out of control, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office report.

Freeman’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Cadillac Escalade driven by Gregory K. Crabtree, 45, of Tompkinsville, head on then hit an earth embankment and a rock wall before coming to rest.

Freeman was transported by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries. No patient information was available from the hospital. Crabtree and his passenger, Kenneth Crabtree, also of Tompkinsville, were not injured.

Everyone involved in the collision was wearing a seat belt.

Deputy Steve Runyon investigated at the scene and was assisted by BSCO Deputy Mike Wood, Maj. Mike Gibbons and Chief Billy Minton of the Cave City Police Department and the Cave City Volunteer Fire Department.
