Published September 05, 2006 12:57 pm - Newspaper carrier dies in wreck - Search under way for driver of second vehicle who fled scene Staff report A newspaper carrier contracted to deliver the Glasgow Daily Times was killed early Sunday morning following a hit-and-run accident.
David Huff, 39, of Tompkinsville, an independent contractor who had delivered the paper for eight years, was killed at 3 a.m. Sunday after his 2002 Chevy Cavalier was struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle, which was traveling southbound on Mill Creek Road in Tompkinsville. “The Daily Times was shocked to hear about the tragic death of David,” publisher Peter L. Mio said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Shirley, and their two children.” A report filed by Trooper Mike Dubre with the Kentucky State Police stated that the southbound vehicle fled the scene immediately following the impact. Later, the vehicle was found abandoned in the area. Huff was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner. One passenger, Terry Kelsay, 47, of Glasgow, was treated and released from the Monroe County Medical Center. The driver of the fleeing vehicle hasn’t been found. The investigation is continuing with Trooper Dubre and officers from the Tompkinsville Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
