REPORTS: Sheriff Chris Eaton asked the court to authorize the purchase of two vehicles through the state price contract system. The cars are 2009 Ford Escapes, priced at $19,500 each.
PUBLIC HEARING: The court held a public hearing in regard to the 2008 tax rates, which were proposed to be 13.5 cents per $100 per assessed value on real estate, 13.5 cents per $100 assessed value of public service companies, 15.3 cents per $100 assessed value on tangible personal property and 15.3 cents per $100 assessed value of aircraft and watercraft.
ACTIONS: The court approved the tax rates for 2008 and approved an agreement with Satellite Tracking of People, LLC. The agreement gives the jail a free, 75-day use of 10 global positioning units. The court also approved a five-year extension on a lease with the U.S. Corps of Engineers for the Austin boat ramp access site. The court approved a proposal from South Environmental Services to remove two underground storage tanks on the jail property at a cost of $11,500, minus a $2,000 credit for diesel in one of the tanks. The board also approved a maintenance agreement with South Kentucky Computer Parts and Repair for development and maintenance of five county Web sites, and acknowledged jail personnel changes with a part-time employee being moved to full time. The court also approved amending the annual budget.
