POLICE BRIEFS: Wreck results in injuries

Staff reports
Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW

Two people were injured slighty in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday.

John G. Madison, 62, of 102 Arthur Rd., Brownsville, was traveling east on East Main Street in a 1996 Lincoln Towncar shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday when Berri S. Humphrey, 38, of 2551 Rocky Hill Rd., Glasgow, backed a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado from a driveway into his path, according to a Glasgow Police Department report.

Madison and Humphrey were transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service where they were both treated and released.

Madison’s vehicle sustained moderate to severe damage to the front end and the right back bumper of Humphrey’s vehicle received minor to moderate damage.

Capt. David Graves investigated at the scene.

In another wreck Tuesday afternoon, a Magnolia woman was injured when a 1995 Dodge pickup driven by Sherry L. Hall, 61, of 5731 Burkesville Rd., was traveling west in the 1400 block of West Main Street crossed into the path of Brittany Riggs, 28, of 9385 New Jackson Hwy., Magnolia.

Hall was attempting to make a left-hand turn into a driveway when her foot slipped off the brake and her vehicle lunged into eastbound lane causing Riggs 2004 Nissan to strike Hall’s pickup on it side causing it to flip on its side, according to a GPD report.

Both women were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

Hall was not injured. Riggs received minor injuries and was transported by Barren-Metcalfe EMS. No patient information was available at press time.

Sgt. Sidney Bailey investigated at the scene.

Wreck closed interstate lanes

An early morning wreck closed lanes of Interstate 65 near Smiths Grove in Warren County for a short time Wednesday.

A single-vehicle wreck in the northbound lane of I-65 at the 38-mile marker closed two of the three lanes just after 6 a.m., according to a report issued by Kentucky State Police, Bowling Green Post.

Juan Cardenas Chavez, 24, of Detroit, Mich., told KSP he was driving a 2005 Chevy Equinox north in the right lane when he fell asleep and his vehicle crossed the center and left lanes and collided head on into the barrier wall. The car came to rest in the northbound left emergency lane facing southbound, according to the report.
