Elaine Breeden of Lexington has advanced to the semifinals of the women’s 100-meter butterfly at the Beijing Olympic Games in China.
Breeden, who has family who reside in Glasgow, posted the sixth-best time in the preliminary heat round of the swimming event.
She is scheduled to compete in the semifinal round of competition Sunday.
Breeden graduated from Trinity School in Lexington and is a student at Stanford University in California.
