Allen Matthew Bowles, 35, of 178 Clubhouse Lane, is charged with two counts of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, a misdemeanor, according to the Glasgow Police Department. Allen Matthew Bowles, 35, of 178 Clubhouse Lane, is charged with two counts of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, a misdemeanor, according to the Glasgow Police Department. If convicted, Bowles could face from 90 days to twelve months in the county jail, according to the designation of offenses from the Kentucky Penal Code. The allegation is that Bowles bought and supplied alcohol to two female minors during the first part of July, according to the criminal complaint filed by GPD Detective Jimmy Phelps. The complaint further states that Bowles met the two minor girls in the parking lot of Houchens on East Main Street and gave them vodka. “The truth will come out and all it is is a bunch of lies,” Bowles said. “People don’t need to believe everything they hear.” Commonwealth’s Attorney Karen Davis said her office was contacted by Phelps to see what criminal charges could be filed. Davis said she was “not hearing a felony.” The case is being handled by Barren County county attorney Jeff Sharp. Bowles was an assistant baseball coach during the 2007-08 school year, according to Glasgow Independent School District Superintendent Kathy Goff. She said she did not know his work history with the school district other than for last year. Goff took over as superintendent on July 1. She said she could not say if Bowles had resigned as coach because of employee confidentiality. Attempts to reach Glasgow Board of Education president Jerry Ream were not immediately returned.
