A Horse Cave man is recovering from gunshot wounds and is facing warrants charging him with assault and burglary.
Michael Cobb faces those counts, as well as a charge of violating a domestic violence order, after police allege that he attempted to break into the home of his ex-girlfriend on Monday night. The woman had obtained an emergency protection order against Cobb on June 30.
Kentucky State Police allege that Cobb gained entry to the home by throwing a chair through a sliding glass door. The woman then fired several shots at Cobb, striking him multiple times, police said.
Police said Cobb assaulted the woman by cutting her with a knife and biting her. The woman escaped from the home just before law enforcement arrived.
She was transported by EMS to Caverna Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. Cobb was taken by ambulance to T.J. Samson Community Hospital before being flown by Air Evac to UofL Hospital, where he underwent surgery for multiple gunshot wounds. He is listed in stable condition.
KSP Detective Laura Isenberg investigated. She was assisted by the Hart County Sheriff’s Department and the Hart County EMS.
