Firefighters with the Glasgow Fire Department recently made a presentation to the Barren County Area Vocational Center. A plaque was given for the students and faculties dedicated service in the construction of the Glasgow Fire Department Training room that is being constructed at Beaver Trail Park in Glasgow.
The project involved the CAD (computer automated drafting) drawing class with the plan drawings, the construction class worked on the framing of the building, the electrical class did the electrical wiring, and the HVAC system was installed by the HVAC class.
This project involved over 60 students from area schools and over 600 man hours of work was performed by the students.
Also, the Barren County School System provided transportation services for the students to the project site each day.
“This project provided a unique opportunity for involving our local vocational school in construction of Phase I of our local fire training center,” said Fire Chief Bobby Bunnell. “It is estimated that the student involvement saved $20,000 in labor costs.”
