Paving repairs begin on Columbia Avenue

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin pavement repairs on U.S. 68/Columbia Avenue on Monday.

The W.L. Harper Company will be performing the maintenance work that will include milling and diamond grinding of the original surface and the application of new pavement. Harper Company has until December to complete the $1.185 million project.

Beginning Monday crews will use lane closures on Columbia Avenue from Davis Street to the Glasgow High School while the work is performed. Lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. The work will continue on this schedule and at this location until further notice.

Motorists can expect slight delays and may wish to seek alternate routes during this time.

Cave City garbage pick up times announced

Cave City City Clerk urges customers to have their garbage cans curbside by 6 a.m. on Monday because of larger quantities of garbage from the July Fourth holiday. Residents should make sure that all bags inside can are secured and are encouraged to break down boxes and cartons to allow more room in receptacles. If anyone cannot completely close the top, one bag will be accepted and must be on top of the closed receptacle.

The clerk’s office will resume normal business hours Monday at 8 a.m.
