Passenger killed in one-vehicle wreck in MCNP

— A Tennessee man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle wreck that occurred Friday night in Mammoth Cave National Park.
Razell Hummell Jr., 41, of Byrdstown, died on impact when the Chevy Tahoe SUV he was riding in left the roadway, hit a culvert and ran into a line of trees, according to a press release issued Monday by the national park.
Hummell was a passenger in the front seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the vehicle, Jeffrey David Cooper, Jamestown, Tenn., was transported to the Bowling Green Medical Center, the press release said.
Tyler Clark, also a passenger in the vehicle, was trapped and the JAWS of Life tool was used to extricate him. Clark was flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, the press release said.
Bryan Cooper, a third passenger in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries, said the press release.
Responding to the scene were personnel with the Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department, Kyrock JAWS of Life, Edmonson County Emergency Services, Air Evac, Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, and the Edmonson County Coroner’s office.
The wreck is under investigation by the national park’s rangers.
