Metcalfe County grand jury indicts 4

Special to the Daily Times

EDMONTON

Four people face felony indictments following a meeting of a Metcalfe County grand jury.

According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Karen M. Davis, 12 cases were presented at the June 6 meeting of the group.

An indictment is only one side of a case and does not imply guilt, only that evidence exists for trial proceedings.

The following indictments were returned:

‰ Dannon L. Anes, 26, of Edmonton, was indicted for rape, third degree, three counts; sodomy, third degree, two counts; assault, third degree; unlawful transaction with a minor, third degree; resisting arrest; and persistent felony offender, second degree. Officer Michael Hampton of the Edmonton Police Depart-ment investigated complaints of Anes giving a juvenile alcoholic beverages and the juvenile staying with Anes late into the night. Further investigation into the allegations of Anes engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor resulted in the officers obtaining a warrant for his arrest. Anes resisted arrest and kicked Deputy Kevin Thompson while he attempted to place Anes under arrest. Anes was found to have a prior felony conviction.

‰ Gary R. McIntyre, 40, of Summer Shade, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first degree; and possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense.

‰ Jimmy Lee Penning-ton, 55, of Edmonton, was indicted for operating motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other substance that impairs one’s driving ability, fourth offense (aggravator - BA 0.18 or greater); operating a motor vehicle while license revoked or suspended for driving under the influence, first offense (aggravator - DUI); speeding; and failure to wear seat belt.

‰ Bobby Pulliam, 39, of Summer Shade, was indicted for criminal mischief, first degree; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other substance which impairs one’s driving ability, first offense; leaving the scene of an accident; and no insurance. Pulliam ran his vehicle into a telephone pole and fled the scene on foot, but was later apprehended at his residence. He then admitted to being involved in the accident. Pulliam was found to be operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and having no insurance.
