A one-vehicle accident on Interstate 65 in Hart County Friday morning injured three passengers.
The crash occurred at 9:40 when the left rear tire of a 1997 Nissan Quest XE van, driven by Hass An Hussein, 29, of Phoenix, Ariz., blew out, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Hussein lost control of the vehicle, which caused it to cross both southbound lanes and go off the right shoulder of the roadway.
The car then struck an earth embankment, causing the vehicle to spin around and come to a final rest in the southbound shoulder.
Three passengers, Fatuma Abdrahman, 19, of Louisville; Rukia Mohamed, 37; and Arafow, Waladi, 54, both also of Phoenix; were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the KSP said.
KSP Trooper Jonathan McChesney was the investigating officer. He was assisted by Trooper Terry Alexander, Hart County EMS and the Hart County Fire Department.
