Friday afternoon turned from bad to worse for Mike Garrett.
A 2-ton truck he was driving overturned in a field, then later caught fire.
Garrett was hauling lime in a rural pasture in the Nobob community.
“As I was going down the hill it jumped out of gear and got away from me,” Garrett said.
Efforts began to remove the truck from a small ravine when approximately an hour later, the cab of the truck caught fire. The Temple Hill Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scence and put out the blaze.
“I don't know what caused the truck to catch on fire really, because it had been sitting there a long time,” Garrett said.
At press time, the Fire Department had not yet determined the cause of the fire.
Mike Garrett’s wife, Deborah, put the incident into perspective.
“It could have been a lot worse. At least no one got hurt,” she said.
