GLASGOW

A Barren County man was arrested Monday afternoon after a search of his residence and property led to various drug charges.

Fred Kent Parker, 32, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, cultivating marijuana five plants or more, possession of drug paraphernalia second offense, two counts of prescription of controlled substance not in the original container and tampering with physical evidence.

Barren County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Temple Hill Road in reference to a tip they received on stolen property and drug activity at the residence.

Sheriff Chris Eaton said they had arrived at Parker’s home while investigating the break-in at a the concession stand at Temple Hill Elementary that occurred late Friday or early Saturday. The window of the concession stand had been broken out and candy and chips taken from the stand.

Parker remains a suspect in the break-in as well, Eaton said.

Upon arrival, deputies noticed items of drug paraphernalia in plain view, which prompted a search warrant for the residence and property. They then contacted the Barren-Edmonson Drug Task Force, Glasgow Police Department’s K-9 unit and Animal Control for further investigation.

After obtaining the warrant, deputies entered the residence where they found Parker hiding under the mattress in the bedroom, 60 marijuana plants, marijuana crusher, marijuana pipes and other items of drug paraphernalia.

Parker was lodged in the Barren County Correction Center with a $7,500 cash bond.

Deputy Steve Runyon made the arrest and was assisted by Deputy Kevin Wilson, Detective Rusty Anderson, Special Deputy Shannon White.

Parker has been arrested multiple other times on drug charges, Eaton said.
