Horse Cave Police make drug bust

— A scam investigation led to the arrest of eight people on drug charges Friday in Horse Cave.
Christopher Hopkins, 36, Lori G. Hopkins, 41, and Albert M. Dustin, 20, all of North Augusta, S.C.; Jesse J. Damon Jr., 42, of Belvedere, S.C.; Rebecca A. Trexler, 24, of Dover, Fla.; Antwin Maurice “Alabama” Russaw, 29, of Enterprise, Ala.; Lucy Reeve, 19, of Cave City; and James Repine, 27, of Indiana, Pa., were each charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Additionally, Christopher Hopkins, Damon and Russaw were charged with prescription controlled substance not in its original container. Christopher Hopkins also is charged with possession of marijuana, while Russaw is also charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and Reeve faces a count of tampering with physical evidence.
On Friday, just before 5 p.m., Horse Cave Police were called to the Horse Cave Motel to investigate complaints that a group associated with a traveling commercial and residential painting business were trying to defraud Snappy’s Pizza and Pasta by means of deception, police said.
Over the course of the investigation, officers learned the suspects were allegedly in possession of crack cocaine, marijuana, three different types of prescription pills and items of drug paraphernalia.
All of the suspects were lodged in the Hart County Jail. The investigation is continuing, with more charges and arrests to follow.
Horse Cave Deputy Police Chief Joe Middleton investigated and was assisted by Munfordville Police Canine Officer Paul Reynolds, Hart County Constable Walter Bush and Hart County Deputy Coroner Bucky Day.
