Two crashes result in four injuries

Staff reports
Glasgow Daily Times

Two teenagers were injured Friday night in a one-vehicle rollover wreck.

A 14-year-old female was driving a 2001 Ford Sport Track approximately five miles west of Glasgow on Park City-Glasgow Road Friday shortly after 11 p.m. when she overcorrected after traveling off the roadway and lost control of the vehicle, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s report. The truck overturned and came to rest on its side.

A 17-year-old passenger was able to pull himself from the vehicle, but the driver was partially ejected. The juveniles, both of Barren County, were taken from the scene to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. The 14-year-old female was transported by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service. The 17-year-old male was taken to the hospital by private means. No patient condition information was available at press time.

Deputy Adam Minor continues to investigate the incident. He was assisted at the scene by Constable Gary Gillon along with South Barren Volunteer Fire Department.

Single-vehicle wrecks result in injuries

A teen driver was injured after losing control of his vehicle Sunday.

Tyler Lee, 17, of Knob Lick, was traveling north of Tick Ridge Road approximately four miles north of Glasgow when he lost control of a 2005 Chevrolet pickup while driving around a curve shortly after noon Sunday. The truck traveled off the roadway, ran over a fire hydrant and struck a telephone pole causing it to snap in two, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s report.

Lee was transported from the scene by the Barren-Metcalfe EMS to T.J. Samson Hospital for treatment of injuries. No patient condition was available at press time.

Alcohol was not a factor in the wreck.

Deputy Bobby McCown investigated at the scene and was assisted by Deputy Kevin Wilson and Hiseville Volunteer Fire Department.

In another single-vehicle wreck early Monday morning, a Glasgow man was hurt when his vehicle hit a tree.

Peter Birge, 31, of Glasgow was driving north on Barbour Road approximately nine miles east of Glasgow when he lost control of a 2006 GMC Canyon as he was exiting a curve just after midnight Monday. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled down a large embankment and hit a tree, according to the BCSO report.

Birge was transported from the scene by private means to T.J. Samson Hospital for treatment of injuries. Patient condition was not available at press time.

Alcohol was not a factor in this accident.

Deputy Adam Minor investigated.
