England elected to KSBA board By AMBER DILLEY Glasgow Daily Times GLASGOW — A member of the Barren County Board of Education has been elected to a leadership position in the largest organization of elected officials in Kentucky.
Tim England, of Fountain Run and a 16-year member of the Barren County Board of Education, will serve a three-year term as a director-at-large on the Kentucky School Board Association Board of Directors. He was elected at the KSBA annual conference Jan. 31 in Louisville. “We’ll be setting policy for the KSBA and helping with their main mission to support school boards around the state with serving kids,” England said. “I’m also on a sub-committee for external relations and we work specifically to support the school boards in the best way we can.” England also served on the KSBA board from 2005-07 as chairman for school boards in the third region. He also currently serves as co-chairman of the KSBA KIDS First Political Action Committee. “I’m fortunate to be in a position where I can support school board members throughout the state,” England said. “It will plug me into what’s going on at the state level, with the legislature especially. The subcommittee I serve on deals with those legislative matters, things that certainly impact our students here in Barren County. There is a benefit to serving at the state level, and it also helps bring information back to Barren County.” Established in 1963, the nearly 900-member KSBA assists school districts and local boards of education in all 174 public school systems by providing training, consultation, advocacy and information about public education in Kentucky. The 27-member KSBA Board of Directors oversees the association’s services and goals of making sure Kentucky’s children get the best education possible.
