Bank robbed By GINA KINSLOW Glasgow Daily Times GAMALIEL — A suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery of a southcentral Kentucky bank was still at large Wednesday morning.
Police are looking for a white male who is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt. The man entered the South Central Bank branch in Gamaliel and indicated that he was armed. The suspect then demanded money and received an undisclosed amount. Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department received a call about the robbery around 9 a.m. Tuesday. Trooper Billy Gregory with the Kentucky State Police Post in Columbia declined to comment on the exact amount of money taken during the robbery. “We can’t release that because that would be playing directly into ... there are some things we can’t release,” he said. The suspect was reported to have left the robbery scene and may be operating a Nissan car with black trim on the rear of the vehicle. The car was last seen heading west on Ky. 87. However, Gregory said state police detectives have focused their attention on locating a green, 1998 Nissan Frontier extended cab pickup truck, which was stolen from Clay County, Tenn. earlier Tuesday. The truck may have a “Breathe Wright” sign on both driver and passenger side doors. Gregory said he did not know if the bank had a video of the robbery from a security camera, but expected to have that information by Wednesday. The suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached, he said. Anyone with information is urged to contact the state police at (800) 222-5555 or call 911. Surrounding Kentucky and Tennessee authorities as well as the FBI have been notified.
