Police and fire officials are investigating a series of fires over a two-day period as the possible work of an arson.
The Glasgow Fire Department responded to a fire call at 135 Park Ave., on Wednesday at about 9:30 p.m. Arriving firefighters found a couch on fire, and extinguished the fire quickly. Firefighters were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
Fire units responded to a vehicle fire at about 2:15 a.m. Thursday at 135 Park Ave. Firefighters found a passenger car fully involved. The vehicle was a total loss and firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
At about 9:15 p.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to a rubbish fire behind 200 N. Broadway. Firefighters found a pallet with a cardboard box and contents on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished. Firefighters were on the scene for about 15 minutes.
On Friday at about 3:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a storage building on fire at 317 Columbia Ave. Firefighters found a storage building and contents on fire and extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes.
While firefighters were extinguishing the fire on Columbia Avenue, they noticed smoke in the area of Ford Drive. Firefighters were dispatched and found a house located at 301 Ford Drive fully involved in fire upon their arrival. The house was not occupied and is a total loss. Firefighters were on the scene for about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
A trash bin fire was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Friday, behind Houchens Market, at 425 Happy Valley Road. The fire was contained to the storage bin. Firefighters were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
The Glasgow Police Department and fire officials are investigating all the fires as suspicious.
No injuries were reported.
