A wonderful evening at the So. Miss. Fair

To the editor:

I enjoyed my trip to the fair in Laurel on a Wednesday evening. As the daylight abruptly faded, the sights and sounds became illuminating.

Entering the fair, we were met by a puppetone act, dancing and jiggling onward ever so closer in our direction. The invitation band of puppets were accompanied by a pianist belting out tunes. My eyes were widened with curiosity and anticipation. There behind the puppeteer act loomed an incredibly long-legged clown marching to the music, in parade-form.

Sky high, the ferris wheel in which I have never brazenly taken a ride upon, was beautiful yet intimidating.

The scents of the well-beloved foods wafted throughout the midway beckoning my attention. After a few inhalations, I succumbed to the temptations. Yum- Yum!

If you know me, then you know where next I’m headed. I head to the Arts Building and then to the horse and wildlife exhibit. I perused the displays of art making mental notes along the way. Amazing! The horses were elegant and stately. In the wildlife exhibition, I oohed over baby piglets and also over young bobwhites. The baby bobwhites were precious, all clammering and squirming into a heap nestled atop of one another to stay warm and cozy, I guess. The fantail pigeons exuded beauty parading their fanned feathers. Beautiful, all so beautiful! Turkeys, guineas, goats, donkeys, chicken, roosters, ducks, geese, etc. were present. I have to humorously admit that the nature aroma was not as delightful wafting through, yet the beauty of nature far transcends.
