10:30 MORNING UPDATE: Hadleigh Hammer picked as Ky. Jr. Beta President

LOUISVILLE — A Barren County Middle School eighth grade student has been selected as the state's Jr. Beta president.

Hadleigh Hammer, an eighth grade student at Barren County Middle School and the daughter of Bart and Heather Hammer was elected as the Kentucky Jr. Beta President.

The selection was made during the annual convention in Louisville. She gave a speech Thursday and the announcement of all winning officers, including Hammer's, was made during the annual dance.

Hammer advances to the national competition, which will be in June in Richmond, Va.
