The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision approximately 7.5 miles south of Glasgow on Woods Store-Etoile Road on Tuesday around 6:40 p.m. Upon arrival, Deputy Steve Clark learned that Tracey K. Bertram, 33, of Temple Hill was traveling west on Woods Store-Etoile Road when she crossed the center line in her 2003 GMC Envoy and struck a 2001 Saturn traveling east driven by April R. Biegel, 36, of Campbellsville, head on. The crash caused Biegel’s car to travel off the edge of the roadway and come to a rest. Bertram’s vehicle then ran off the roadway into a ditch striking a tree, before coming to a final rest, according to a BCSO report. Bertram and her three passengers Elizabeth, Rachel and Ethan Bertram, were all transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital by Barren-Metcalfe EMS, where they were all treated and released. Biegel and her passenger, Shannon Byrd, 30, of Glasgow, were not injured. All subjects involved were wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

Staff reports
Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW

A Barren County teen was injured Tuesday night when her vehicle skidded on wet pavement and off the roadway.

Chelsea R. Houchens, 18, of Barren County, was operating a 1993 Ford Mustang convertible around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday traveling southbound on Park City-Glasgow Road approximately five miles west of Glasgow when she lost control of her vehicle on the wet roadway causing it to travel off the road and strike a tree head on, according to a BCSO report.

Houchens was transported from the scene by the Barren-Metcalfe EMS to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries, where she was later released.

Houchens was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Two charged following drug complaint

Two Barren County women were arrested Monday morning after a complaint of possible drug activity was called into the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a home on Oil Well Road and spoke to the resident about a tip they had received that led to a search of the residence by consent. Deputies found a small bag of marijuana, a small bag of suspected methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, according to Trevor Phillips, BCSO public relations officer.

Paula Marie Read, 24, of Glasgow, was arrested on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense; possession of marijuana; and prescription controlled substance not in its original container, first offense.

Tracy Jo Mitchell, 30, of Glasgow, was in the residence at the time of the search and was also arrested on two contempt of court warrants from Barren and Warren counties.

Both women were lodged in the Barren County Correctional Center – Read on a $5,000 cash or approved surety bond and Mitchell on $238 pay or stay.

Assisting in the investigation and arrests were, deputies Steve Runyon and Kevin Wilson along with Detective Ann Phelps.

Three injured in Hart County wreck

Three people were injured in a four-vehicle wreck Monday morning in Hart County.

The wreck occurred at the 65 mile-marker in the southbound lane of Interstate 65.

All vehicles involved were traveling south near the 65 mm when traffic began to slow due to road construction. As a 2008 Honda Civic, driven by Nikolas A. Brazley, 20, of Louisville, slowed his vehicle, a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by David J. Violette, 49, Newburgh, Maine, was unable to stop and struck Brazley’s car in the back. A 2009 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Myron M. Morriss, 47, of Washington, Mo., was also unable to stop and struck the rear of Violette’s tractor-trailer. A 2004 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Zan Bozovic, 37, of Etobicoke, Ontario also was unable to stop and struck Morriss’ tractor-trailer in the back causing his truck to travel under the rear trailer area of Morriss’ tractor-trailer and trapping Bozovic in his tractor-trailer for over two hours, said Trooper Charles Swiney, public information office for the Kentucky State Police’s Bowling Green Post.
