The Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Barren County Family YMCA, kicked off “Healthy Kids Day” at the YMCA on April 9. “Healthy Kids Day,” a national event celebrated at most every YMCA in the country, will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the local YMCA located at 1 YMCA Way in Glasgow. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Festivities for the day include games, activities, prizes, inflatables for climbing and colorful “YMCA Healthy Kids Day” T-shirts for the first 200 kids who walk through the door. Kids may bring bathing suits to enjoy a dip in the swimming pool and parents can have car seats checked by professionals.
This year, there will be a Kids Run in conjunction with the Butterflies for Maddie Run. The Kids Run, a half-mile run, begins at 9 a.m. and takes place along YMCA Way. All who finish receive a medallion. The cost to enter the race is $10 and benefits Kosair Children's Hospital. Runners receive a goodie bag and T-shirt.
