Marine Corps Mess Hall

Annual event raises funds for scholarship

GLASGOW — While Jerry Stahl, a Korean War veteran, collects money at the door, Jim Hyatt, a Vietnam War veteran, stands ready to serve orange juice and milk.

Both are members of the Marine Corps League who volunteered to help out with the organization’s annual pancake fry Saturday at Glasgow Middle School.

Hyatt has been volunteering to help with the pancake fry since it first began.

“It’s really nice that the community supports us, and we really appreciate it,” he said.

Among those who turned out for the event was Glasgow resident Bobby Elliott, a retired Army veteran.

Elliot tries to attend the pancake fry each year  and said he does it “just to try to support the Marine Corps League,” he said.

With him on Saturday was Rodney Trigg, of Glasgow, who was attending the event for the second year. They brought 12-year-old Joseph Trigg, a Glasgow Middle School student, with them.

Approximately 300 to 400 people attend the event each year.
