English professor sets out to prove how great Ky. BBQ is

Writing a book on Kentucky barbecue was a labor of love for Wes Berry, an English professor at Western Kentucky University.

Berry, a native Barren Countian, became inspired to write the book, which is titled “The Kentucky Barbecue Book,” after becoming fed up with the lack of recognition given to the varied styles of barbecue that can be found in Kentucky.

“I watch a lot of Food Network and Travel Channel shows and was often irritated when they didn’t say a word about Kentucky,” Berry said, so he set out to show everyone Kentucky also has great barbecue.
