Glasgow Community Band to perform concert on the square

GLASGOW — A local tradition will continue Thursday evening with the annual downtown concert by the Glasgow Community Band.

The concert, which will be under the direction of Robbie Fudge, will begin at 7 p.m. and will take place on the east side of the public square.

Fudge took over as director of the band in February. The concert on the square will be his third appearance with the community band, having led the band in performances on Memorial Day and during the recent Midway Island Reunion, but his first concert on the square.

“I’m anxiously looking forward to being able to put this group out on the square for a public concert,” he said. “They are such an extremely talented group of musicians. They’ve done everything that I’ve asked them to do and then some.”

The community band will play military marches, patriotic tunes and movie themes, among other selections.

“It’s just a little something for everyone, young and old,” Fudge said.

The concert is free to the public. Concert goers are asked to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating on the Barren County Courthouse lawn.

The Glasgow Kiwanis Club will be selling concessions as a fundraiser for the club.
