Fans who turn out Saturday night to hear Collin Raye perform at the Plaza Theatre will be treated to an acoustic performance.
Raye, who has had 24 top 10 records and 16 number one songs during his career, recently described his upcoming show at the Plaza as being “a normal guy sharing his music in a living room-type setting.”
“To be honest, I think I’m most comfortable doing it unplugged,” he said. “It gives me an opportunity to be more upfront and personal with the audience.”
Raye launched his country music career in 1991 with the hit “Love Me.” He went to on be nominated four times by the Academy of Country Music for the Top Male Vocalist award, twice for the Video of the Year award, once for the Single Record of the Year award and once for the Top New Vocalist award, according to ACM website.
While he has done well in country music, Raye has been gradually moving more toward Christian music.
His latest album, “His Love Remains,” was a Christian album featuring hymns.
“That album has done extraordinarily well,” he said. “It’s selling more now than it did five or six months ago. I believe that is the grace of God causing it.”
