SALEM — The Parent Teacher Association at Mary Fisk Elementary School is trying to raise $3,000 to purchase air purifiers for each of the school's classrooms.
"If there are germs in the air, we should do our best to get it out," said Paula Patten of the PTA.
At the beginning of the school year, the PTA distributed gift bags to each classroom with sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizer liquid, and antibacterial cleaners for teachers to use. The district is looking into having hand-sanitizer dispensers installed in all of its elementary schools.
Air purifiers in each classroom would go one more step toward ridding schools of germs, Patten said.
"Even if we can get the allergens and dust mites out, that could help," she said.
