CAVE CITY — CAVE CITY CITY COUNCIL

ACTIONS: Council members took the following actions: approved February meeting minutes; approved financial reports; approved on second reading three ordinances designating zoning for recently annexed property; approved the Twin Lake Cave Conservation Task Force to work on the L&N Cave; approved a memorandum of understanding between the city of Cave City and the Housing Authority of Glasgow for the creation of a community garden; and declared maintenance truck No. 11 — a 1985 GMC one-ton, 4 by 4 pick-up truck and a maintenance truck No. 14 — a 1992 F-350 pick-up truck as surplus property.
DISCUSSION: Council members discussed the following: the creation of an ordinance regarding the closing of an alley off of South Dixie Street and divide the property 50/50 between 101 South Dixie St. and 103 South Dixie St.; and raising the pay of sanitation workers from $8 per hour to $12 per hour.
CLOSED SESSION: Council members met in closed session with Dan Iacconi with the Glasgow-Barren County Industrial Development and Economic Authority and Owen Lambert, chairman of the IDEA board of directors, to discuss real estate and personnel matters. Upon resuming their open session, an announcement was made that no action had been taken in closed session.
REPORTS: Council members heard the following reports: mayor’s report; fire, police, public works, activity, community development, code enforcement, economic and chamber of commerce.
CITIZEN’S REQUEST: Barren County magistrate Chris Steward about the $73,000 the city received in state funds to make improvements to Grinstead Mill Road; Allen Harper with the Caverna Youth League regarding a donation; Bill Kidd with Kidd Communications regarding new hand-held radios; and reimbursement to the Cave City Volunteer Fire Department for use of supplies on medical calls.
