9:50 MORNING UPDATE: Tractor trailer overturns on I-65, NB lanes closed up to 10 hours

HORSE CAVE — 9:50 a.m. UPDATE: The Northbound lanes of Interstate 65 could be closed up to 10 hours. Look for detours at Cave City and KDOT personnel directing traffic.

8:10 a.m. UPDATE: Northbound lanes of Interstate 65 are now closed due to the tractor trailer crash.

Northbound traffic is being routed off the interstate at Cave City (exit 53) and back onto the interstate at Horse Cave (exit 58).

Northbound Interstate 65 is reduced to one lane of traffic at mile point 56, just inside the Hart County line, according to a press release from state transportation department post 3.

A tractor trailer has overturned carrying a load of batteries. Removal and cleanup is expected to take around four hours.

While complete closure is not anticipated, the incident is in a construction zone and backups are likely.

Motorists may wish to use U.S. 31W as an alternate route. The incident location is between exits 54 and 58.

Updates will be provided as removal and cleanup continue.
