11:04 EVENING UPDATE: Hardyville man in Green County wreck dies

COLUMBIA — SUNDAY UPDATE: Benny Scott, 67, of Hardyville died 12:40 PM Eastern time Sunday at University of Louisville Hospital as a result of his injuries, according to a KSP update.

SATURDAY 9:50 EVENING UPDATE: Wreck leaves Glasgow man dead and Hardyville man critically injured

A Glasgow man died after a two-vehicle collision at approximately 2:45 p.m. Saturday in Green County, according to a Kentucky State Police press release.

Johnnie M. McElroy, 54, of Glasgow was traveling west on Ky. 88, operating a 2004 Chevy pickup, and 67-year-old Benny Scott of Hardyville was traveling east on the road, operating a 2008 Ford pickup, according to the KSP statement. Scott’s vehicle dropped off the shoulder, and he overcorrected; the Ford crossed the roadway, striking McElroy’s vehicle, according to the statement.

McElroy was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County coroner, and Scott was flown to University of Louisville Hospital where he was in critical condition Saturday evening, according to the KSP statement.

Trooper Logan Richardson is investigating the crash.
