1:24 AFTERNOON UPDATE: Barren County schools OFF lockdown

GLASGOW — Deputy Mike Houchens, public information officer for BCSO, reports that the soft lockdown for Barren County schools on Trojan Trail has been lifted.

Houchens said a man who was involved in a domestic dispute this morning in Allen County and was very upset and made a comment that he was going to pick up his children at one of those schools, so the lockdown was instituted as a precautionary measure.

"We just went out and did our job to prevent anything from happening at the schools," Houchens said.

The man was detained in Scottsville.




12:12 AFTERNOON UPDATE: Barren County schools on lockdown

The Barren County schools lon Trojan Trail (Barren County High School, Trojan Academy and Barren County Middle School) are on a "soft lockdown."

Bo Matthews, Barren County Schools superintendent, said there was a threat made outside of the school system and local law enforcement advised them to perform a soft lockdown of all the schools on Trojan Trail.

Glasgow Police Department officers and Barren County Sheriff's Office personnel are on the scene.

Matthews confirmed that students are safe and they are waiting for the OK from local law enforcement to reopen the schools.

Julie Anne Williams, public affairs officer for GPD, confirmed the lockdown but said she could not comment on anything else at this time.

Deputy Mike Houchens, public information officer for BCSO, said at 12:27 p.m. that any actions taken at that time were "precautionary measures" due to an off-campus incident" and he would provide additional information as soon as possible.

"Nothing has happened at any of the schools or in the immediate vicinity of schools," he said. The incident "does not directly involve" any of the schools.
