GLASGOW — 3:37 AFTERNOON UPDATE: Monroe County schools will be closed on Friday do to impending weather and for the Class A basketball tournament.
The Cumberland Parkway, which stretches from Interstate 65 in the west to Somerset in the east, is predicted to be the cutoff point for a wintry mix forecast to hit Kentucky tonight.
"Light icing may occur in southern Kentucky, especially along and north of the Cumberland Parkway," a statement from the National Weather Service warns.
Snow is predicted further north, particularly in the Bluegrass area of the state.
"The most widespread precipitation with the coldest surface temperatures should occur between 6 and 10 a.m. Friday. As a result, the morning commute to work and school will likely be adversely affected," the service advises.
