The Rev. Charlie F. Edmonds, “the Preaching Bluesman,” speaks and plays a few tunes at the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library about the “Birth of Blues.” In the presentation, on Tuesday night, Edmonds discussed a variety of topics including: early blues instruments, which were usually everyday household items such as a washboard – women’s contribution to the blues, early recording equipment and the rich history and culture surrounding the blues music genre.
