GLASGOW — At 8:56 a.m. Saturday, Glasgow Police were dispatched to Highland Pharmacy on Rogers Road in reference to an armed man in the process of robbing the business.
David Wiley, an employee of the pharmacy, was able to disarm and detain the suspect. When Officer Justin Kirkpatrick arrived on the scene, he placed Ira McDaniel, 33, of Hardyville, under arrest, according to a GPD press release.
A police investigation led to McDaniel’s vehicle being found at a business adjacent to Highland Pharmacy, which was found to contain material relevant to the arrest. That vehicle has been impounded by Glasgow Police.
McDaniel was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. He was then transported to and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
Wiley received minor injuries during his scuffle to detain McDaniel, but was not transported by medical services to seek treatment.
Charges against Ira McDaniel include first-degree robbery, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree assault.
The investigation continues under the supervision of Detective Sgt. Jennifer Arbogast.
