Spring, a 5-month-old heeler-border collie mix, is recovering from surgery at Barren River Animal Welfare Association. The shelter paid $2,300 to fix Spring's leg after she was rescued from an abusive home, and shelter employees hope the community will help raise the funds to cover the cost of the surgery. After eight weeks of recuperation, Spring will be up for adoption. Amanda Loviza Vickery / Glasgow Daily Times
